For a while in the early 2000s there was talk of GNER buying a couple of Pendolinos... The yellow panel is deliberately at odds with the streamlining, in keeping with reserved styling of the rest of GNER's fleet.

From 43001 at 2006-07-30 13:28:37 : the liveryis great, although the yellow panel would look nicer if it was in the way virgin trains did it!!!! although what about gner mk2 coaches!!!!
From railtalk.net at 2006-08-01 21:33:07 : I think that it would look better if the yellow went up each side of the window like the previous one it would look a lot better. But there is great work and time been put in there.
From Adam Warr at 2006-08-04 22:25:51 : Very well done! GNER did actually have a mock up produced of the Pendolino, which showed the yellow panel going right up over the roof but the same width as you have done. It looked quite alarming at the time!
From train-mad at 2006-08-30 15:44:44 : How about one with Mallard red doors!
From Luke at 2006-11-27 01:37:37 : A good livery but this would never be allowed into service as it would be illegal under the Disability discrimination act so they would have to have the red doors like someone suggested.
From The Master at 2006-11-27 07:56:17 : Er... no. This is a "fictitious livery" and features the _original_ GNER livery, which didn't have red doors. InterCity livery wouldn't be allowed these days for the same reasons, so it's a pointless argument.
From at 2006-12-15 18:54:26 : NO WAY, GNER HAVE BRILLIANT TRAINS, NO PLASTIC REQUIRED!!!!!
From steve at 2007-03-04 21:00:59 : quality!
From Sam at 2007-09-21 19:36:40 : nice pic, crap train.Im sorry but we do not want any rubbish branson plastic over here! Our lovely Mk3 and 4's can stay forever!!!!
From chris at 2007-11-04 13:00:23 : I'm sorry but now that GNER has lost it's fanchise (how do you spell it?) to virgin thre will probably be pendolinos on the route.
From The Master at 2007-11-04 16:10:40 : I think you may want to check your facts on that one.
From Steve at 2007-12-21 15:02:22 : And I thought it was just me who hated Pendolinos (in any colour)! Sam's comment about them being 'plasticy' and about 'Mk II and Mk III being far better' from a passenger point of view is dead-on. I like to be able to see over the seat back in front of me, instead of pinned-in aircraft fashion. The other stupid thing about short, fixed formation trains is you need twice as many of them, more drivers and more cost. Daft. Like a lot of things on the privatised railway.
From j......... at 2008-03-25 20:47:49 : What stupid idiotic trains, Our Intercity 125s and 225s can have an eternal life upgrade. Cor, who would want any more Branson Tat over here (Voyagers are ennough) Anyway, GNER has lost the franchise to NXEC.
