In Japan the "Doctor Yellow" high-speed track measurement trains are often newly built trains (or nearly new conversions). If the same policy applied in the UK, maybe we'd see something like this. Original photo © Andy Appleton.

From Dale Williams at 2006-08-04 18:21:42 : Very nice livery idea, suits the Pendolino perfectly.
From 43001 at 2006-08-09 08:02:21 : i could so imagine seeing that in real life!!!!
From Andrew at 2006-08-20 17:28:40 : A 'real life' one for the future me thinks. Now then, all we need is a yellow Thunderbird to drag it!
From Jezmundomaximilliansmash at 2006-09-09 22:14:09 : I beleive thunderbird 4 was yellow............!
From bjmorley at 2007-08-08 11:08:58 : too much yellow! make a pendolino in railtrack livery so we dont get covered in bees as it starts up!
From matt at 2007-11-11 17:05:18 : the pictures on this site are really good, very realistic.
From goolybooly at 2008-02-04 18:50:32 : Looks bald kind of. Anyway, doesnt have to be doctor yellow, could be network rail measurement train!
From goolybooly at 2008-02-04 18:53:09 : Forgot to say that it could be like the NMT HST, which has the same colour scheme.
From The Master at 2008-02-11 14:42:21 : Erm yes. That's why it says "High Speed Measurement Train" down the side, and is in the same livery as the NMT... All the caption is saying is that in Japan the test trains are often relatively new, not like in the UK where we grab the oldest stuff we can to make test units out of.
From j......... at 2008-03-27 21:04:15 : Doctor Yellow
From Antony at 2008-08-24 14:26:04 : Nice Picture, Id love to see this up and down the west coast, keep the 390's off passenger services :)
From kev smith at 2008-09-05 10:27:46 : this is something network rail should consider, with the vehicle build tagged on to end of the new build.
with 125 obselete soon this is the natural progression.
From harry knowles aged 5 at 2008-09-06 16:32:13 : saw the flying banana at Doncaster with dad, would love to see this.
