Fictitious Liveries
I've read that the Northern 86s are to be used, Top 'n' Tail with ex-Anglia Mk2s, on a new Crewe-Preston stopper (Crewe; Winsford; Hartford; Acton Bridge; Warrington BQ; Earlestown; Newton-le-Willows; Wigan NW; Euxton; Leyland; Preston). It must be true because here's a shot of 86262 on the rear of the press-launch special, calling at the rebuilt Earlestown station.Previous | NextThe lilac version of the Northern Railways livery.

From Steve at 2006-08-19 22:41:21 : Looks a bit chilly eh? I guess 'Steam to Earlestown' would at least have had better carriage heating. There must have been heated words exchanged about which way round to marshall the carriages. Which way should the 'ticks' point? Should they all 'point' in the same direction or should each carriage tick point in alternating directions? Operations Manager Dave lamented the removal of so many turntables. It took fully three months (!) to get all the stock to Crewe, just so that they could be re-marshalled in the 'ticks alternating' consist. 'Pointless waste of hidden tax subsidy to the shareholders' I hear you say, and I couldn't agree more.
From dave40 at 2007-08-01 16:49:13 : Northern have changed their livery slightly. It's a bit more "swoopy" same colours but a bit "Stagecoachy(!)" Put that on and see what it looks like.
