From KMRshunter at 2007-08-14 18:54:45 : to confirm a few Class 04's did actually carry BR blue livery before withdrawl, but none survived long enough to recieve TOPS numbering
From Nyall Trainmad at 2007-08-18 10:30:07 : Looks pretty good
Shame they never quite managed that livery! Normally not too keen on BR Blue but I like that.
From dan adkins at 2007-08-23 11:42:18 : many carried BR blue, I have seen many pictures of them at work in BR blue, and have a model of D2258 in this colour scheme
the TOPS for these engines was 11xxx
From The Master at 2007-08-24 11:08:08 : No it wasn't. The 1948-series numbers were in the 11XXX series, the D-numbers were in the D22XX series and the TOPS numbers would have been 04XXX, but none ever carried them.
From Tom Walker at 2007-08-28 18:35:38 : Yeah, would be the same as most classes, TOPS number starts with the class number. This is a good picture, it's always interesting to see TOPS numbers on classes that never carried them, like 35017, when the WSR put a hymech into RFD for a short while...
From dan adkins at 2007-08-28 20:54:12 : I know many were allocated 11xxx
the TOPS for the class 11's were 12xxx as obviously 11xxx was taken
to name a few
11103 2203
11106 2205
11108 2207
11216 2246
From O.H. at 2007-08-28 21:00:53 : No, really, Dan, the posters above are right. The TOPS numbers for 04s were 04XXX, but none ever carried them. The 1948-series BR numbers for 04s were 11XXX; for Class 11s and 12s, they never received the later 1951(?) D-number series at all, and carried their 12XXX and 15XXX numbers until withdrawal. These were not TOPS numbers, even though some had them applied in Rail Blue.
From Redmanb11 at 2007-09-06 15:53:06 : looks good, but try doing Network Rail or EWS!
From dan adkins at 2007-09-11 18:13:11 : I bet that's the number scheme I'm thinking of, the 1948 one!
From Dave R at 2007-10-10 22:08:31 : I've never quite seen the logic of the Class 11/12 decision. You have two virtually identical classes of shunter; you are about to allocate TOPS class numbers 11 and 12 to them; and one of them already has five-digit numbers in the 12xxx series. A no-brainer, surely? Evidently not! Is there any reason I've overlooked?
