From bjmorley at 2007-08-25 14:09:26 : dont like that 1. theres no windows and if it was trainload or watever it is, it would be 3 car with 2 cars with windows.
From The Master at 2007-08-25 16:15:49 : What the heck you on about?
From bjmorley at 2007-08-25 19:32:40 : i dont like the livery and i was peer mentoring it if u no wat it is
From The Master at 2007-08-25 21:23:11 : ... but the pic shows Railfreight Distribution livery, i.e. freight, so why should it have windows? And why would it be three cars, with two cars having windows? Just puzzled by the statement you made, that's all. As I understand it, 'peer mentoring' is a process by which an expert in a field assists a novice by asking questions, coaching, sharing knowledge/experience etc, but not criticizing or being judgemental.
From bjmorley at 2007-08-26 11:41:37 : well wats the point of having a train with no windows? it works well with the royal mail 1 not the railfreight 1. it makes it look horrible. also i was peer mentoring it by telling him how to improve the voyager to make it work. i have done it for 3 years in science, english and D&T.
From The Master at 2007-08-26 19:44:08 : Fair enough, but to me a train with RfD livery equals freight, therefore no passengers, therefore no windows. I interpreted this as a sort of high-speed parcels and modular freight carrier. I don't see how having windows (and being three cars) would make it 'work', but then it's not my picture. (Peer mentoring of English: your last post would benefit from up to sixteen improvements.) ;)
From Matthew Harbon at 2007-08-26 19:47:35 : Very smart indeed. Well, as an engineering train!(of corse)
From Sam Green at 2007-08-27 20:39:48 : bjmorey or wotever your name is, your talking absoloute rubbish and instead of crediting O.H for his work you just moan about it!A freight train does NOT have windows!Good work
From bjmorley at 2007-08-29 11:57:26 : shut up! all i sed this loco does not have no windows so wats the point? the workers will be driven bonkers! the joy of trains is for the veiw not the no veiw.
From Dai O'rea at 2007-08-29 20:38:47 : This is all getting a bit nasty! I think the point is that it's a fictitious FREIGHT train. It needs no windows (just as a class 325 needs no windows - Freight = no workers!!). Remember children, F-I-C-T-I-T-I-O-U-S!!
From Owen at 2007-08-29 20:42:14 : Wow!
Interesting debate you lot are having here! OK - here's what I had in mind when I made the image: an FMU (or freight multiple unit) designed to carry palletised cargo or containerised loads (I'm thinking the sort of containers used on airliners, rather than big shipping containers, obviously). With hindsight, maybe I should have added roller-shutter doors, or something, but the intent was that it's purely for freight - there are no staff on board who would need windows to look out of (not counting driver etc). Same goes for the Royal Mail version - just like the 325s, an unmanned cargo unit. If you're feeling uncharitable, or just don't like Voyagers, you might be able to read an ulterior message into making them cargo-carriers... ;)
From kev o at 2007-10-11 17:57:14 : Looks wicked... Was RfD planning an express FMU to revitalise fish traffic from the North Sea ports?
From Liam at 2007-12-12 22:20:53 : so its basically a parcels version of a 325?
From The Master at 2007-12-14 09:09:26 : A parcels version of a 325? And there's me recalling those heady days when 325s were passenger units...
From PrentonPimp at 2007-12-16 18:18:57 : LOL! Good sarcasm...!
From Steve at 2007-12-21 14:16:18 : Ha! You see for rapid customer processing the trick is to MODULARISE passengers. All Euston/ Aberystwyth travellers are stacked, pallatised and wrapped in cling-film to keep them insitu. Efficient materials handling systems make all the transhipment at each connecting station en route. It has been found that they travel better in pitch-black conditions, suitably sedated.... hence no windows necessary. Ask for a 'StackandPuke Hyper-Saver Return' or book online at StrewthRail.co.uk
From JIM KNOWLES at 2008-09-05 23:03:24 : the annoying thing is, it does look smart
From G. Dewhirst at 2008-12-28 19:00:23 : Best thing you could do with the Voyagers. Hate the things. Only good for carrying freight what with being too short, throbbing engine under your feet, rattles everywhere and cramped. Bring back engine & coaches / HST's. (Yes I know they've brought back a few.)
