What a British Shed might look like. I've been meaning to try this for a while, adding a more 'British' body to a 66. I'm sure there are other ways of doing it, but here's mine.

From Fuzzbox at 2007-08-27 10:34:33 : How about a route indicator box on the cab roof as well?
From Adam Warr at 2007-08-27 15:40:00 : Wow! That looks like one of those Bulleid-designed 1CO-CO1s...
From Bastiaan at 2007-08-27 16:05:48 : OMG! That's brilliant! How in earth did you make it all look so rounded?
From Dave at 2007-08-28 11:49:20 : The cab roof looks like it's from a 31, the cab itself looks like a 73, then it all goes horribly wrong towards the back!
From I.P.Freely at 2007-08-28 12:41:26 : Nah - the cab roof looks like it's from a '56', but I must agree the rest is (ahem) 'unusual'. If I go to B&Q and ask for a shed then I want it shed-shaped!
From The Master at 2007-08-28 13:04:06 : Not sure I like the cab roof (I guess you just get used to that peaked-cap effect), but as for the rest, at least it looks like it's made of something solid, and not 0.5mm corrugated iron. I don't see much of Class 73 in there though...
From bjmorley at 2007-08-29 11:42:08 : i think it would look better with a route indicator box on top, another grill at the end, make the exhaust pipe looking box on the top just metal, no colour, the bogie you would need to see the springs like this: -\------/- (sort of shape), and the colour more red, maybe with a few windows, prehaps?
From KMRshunter at 2007-08-29 20:57:43 : Thanks Owen :) you have finally got around to doing one of the modded 66's I suggested, looks good on it too :) now hows about the EWS Leader ;)
From bjmorley at 2007-08-29 21:03:05 : wat about making the 58- looking design for the 66? i saw it in issue 3 of RE and it looked more british than the shed design
From r.brampton at 2007-09-06 14:47:50 : How about the Irish 201 class design for 59/66s - the NIR owned machines looked great in Rail blue and yellow aprons - they cry out for a large double arrow on the side.
From Turbostar 170 at 2007-09-08 17:30:02 : WICKED!!
From Al at 2007-09-09 23:03:54 : Interesting, personally I often think a UK 66 would have looked something like a 60 with 92 cabs, something i keep meaning to do in model form witha coupl eof spare bodys.
From lee at 2007-09-12 13:13:23 : looks much better than the real 66s
From mark56124 at 2007-09-13 19:34:11 : Excellent work - a Class 66 without currogated sides and rounded appearance, yet rather curiously it looks more like 'Eastern European' than British style...
From Geoff at 2007-10-17 16:47:07 : I like the smoother look of the 'Shed'. It now would look OK on passenger duties.
From Agreeable at 2007-10-28 18:04:30 : I agree with fuzzbox. all british locos need route indicators
From jon pritchard at 2007-11-03 07:30:38 : looks like a co-bo
From The Master at 2007-11-04 16:21:23 : Headcode box? A loco built in the late 1990s should have a headcode box? Huh?
From junior buff at 2007-11-10 18:15:11 : Personally I don't have a problem with the sheds. Have I gone mad.
From PrentonPimp at 2007-11-22 23:04:37 : I drive 'Sheds' or more correctly, 'Freds', and from a railwaymans point of view, they are fan-bleedin'-tastic. (the lawnmower and watering cans get in the way though...!)
From Stephen Allcroft at 2007-12-03 17:47:23 : To make it look even more British you could try making the A end Cab and the B end cab the same length.
From Fatman at 2008-06-22 01:18:49 : Front needs to be flat, altered buffer beam, british style windows with a square door, exhaust ports and a squarer fuel tank. after that it would be british
From L. E. Greys at 2008-06-29 05:53:27 : If this is a British 66, what does a British 67 look like?
From Gray Wilson at 2008-11-04 20:49:49 : 1/ needs headcode box 2/ wish I was at BH when it was LOL
