Fictitious Liveries
Created for the A1 Trust, this was made to give an impression of how Tornado would look once painted. The real thing has now been unveiled - much shinier than this! This image appeared in Steam Railway Magazine.Previous | NextThe DRS Deltic... PLEASE - before anyone else comments that gosh DRS have actually bought this loco in real life, yes I know - that's why I made the image. 1300 views in the first 24 hours!

From L. E. Greys at 2008-11-18 22:31:22 : You and me both. I've said it before, best livery in the world.
From Postman Prat at 2008-11-19 18:47:33 : I do like it with the shaded figures/letters!!! Loverly - Jubberly. However, ever the pedantic, the LNER figures/letters applied to A H PEPPERCORN and most post-war green locos were unshaded so even without nationalisation it's unlikely that this is how it would have appeared. Railway Liveries 1923-1947 by Brian Haresnape will give further details if anyone is that interested. (If I haven't sent everyone to sleep)
From Andy Elms at 2008-11-20 10:54:16 : Bloody Marvellous. Any chance of BR Express passenger Blue- I always thought that really suited the A1s
From Andrew Holloway at 2008-11-21 12:50:13 : I like both versions. Once again, a great job.
From Graham McMillan-Cox at 2008-11-25 21:32:05 : Agree with Mr. Holloway wholeheartedly. If pressed, I must affirm that the LNER scheme just pips the early BR! Keep up the excellent work my friend. Graham
From Station X at 2008-12-01 17:40:58 : This is the best of the lot... It'd even be more authentic than Flying Scotsman in LNER green. Cracking effort!
From Stephen Harris at 2008-12-05 12:32:15 : Looks fantastic!!! I'd love it to be painted like this sometime.
From Norm at 2008-12-14 13:11:08 : She looks like this now, only better. Rembrandt and co. have done a good job. Stuff what it looked like in 1947, this was finished in 2008. It's not a replica or a rebuild, it's a brand new engine. Stop counting rivets and enjoy the workmanship!
From Graham McMillan-Cox at 2008-12-15 01:54:38 : Oh yes Norm, you are so right. Brand new, out of the box and CE approved. A wonderful piece of kit which will break new ground in terms of maximum allowable speed on NR tracks. Let's face it, you need to keep out of the way of the scheduled services!! Rivet counters are not welcome here!!
From L. E. Greys at 2008-12-18 02:15:58 : So if it's not a replica or a rebuild, is it an A1/3? How's that for a real rivet-counter's question?
